Destinations

JJ Line Charters destinations encompass Lake Michigan and it's tributaries. We fish these waters nearly year round. We base much of our efforts in southeastern Wisconsin but spend the ice out period of spring in Peshtigo.

Peshtigo River, Peshtigo

Best Times: LATE March - April.

I've been a river walleye fisherman for 35 years. Never, have I fished a better small river for walleyes. The Peshtigo produces both numbers and trophy potential. My clients have caught fish up to 13 pounds, with countless fish in the 8-10 pound range.

Timing is everything for this river and best times are based on water levels and water temperature. Typically fishing begins in late March and runs through the month of April. Our go to is live bait and jigs but often times plastics and even crank baits work well. J Line Charters provides all bait and tackle for your trip, unless of course, you want to bring a special bait or rod.

Lake Michigan, Milwaukee

Best Times: May - October.

Early season fishing on Lake Michigan starts in March. However, most of the salmon numbers are south of Milwaukee into Illinois. Brown trout fishing can be excellent in April. J Line Charters will target these fish in small boats. Live bait, plastics, cranks and spoons take most of the fish.

Once May rolls around we begin to see coho, steelhead, and lake trout with a few kings caught. Most of our fishing is closer to shore where we utilize our 33 foot Sea Ray to take these fish. Come early summer, all the usual suspects are in town. Kings, lakers, steelhead and coho are abundant. Early morning can be prime, with afternoons being a good time to fish as well. We troll flies, spoons, spinners and meat rigs to catch these fish. Our boat Regicide and easily run 18 lines for larger parties.

Lake Michigan, Harbors

Best Times: March-April / October-December

Harbor fishing can be excellent. As stated above, March and April can be great for browns. Starting in September, kings congregate in the harbors prior to their spawning run. We chase these trophies in either our 33 foot Sea Ray or in smaller boats based on fish location and mood.  Fish in the fall can exceed 30+ pounds.
